Tacoma Dragon Boat Association Destiny Dragons – WASHINGTON http://www.tacomadragonboat.org/ TDBA (Tacoma Dragon Boat Association) is a year round paddling club. Our members paddle for recreation or competition. Click on the “Practice Schedule” to find out more about when and where we practice. Our motto is fun, fitness, and fellowship for people who love being outdoors. TDBA members range in age from 18 to over 80, and come from a wide range of professions. TDBA is the home of the Destiny Dragons, named for the moniker by which Tacoma, Washington has been known for over 80 years, the City of Destiny.

The Flathead Flames – MONTANA http://flatheadflames.org/web/ Flathead Valley Hockey Association (FVHA) is a non-profit organization established in January 2007. The organization was formed for the purpose of creating, organizing, administering and managing youth hockey programs to be offered in Kalispell and the surrounding areas including Bigfork, Lakeside, Somers and Evergreen. FVHA operates entirely on volunteer efforts. Flathead Valley Hockey Association also owns the ice skating rink and manages the community skate center located at Woodland Park. Woodland Ice Center is open to the public for public skate, men’s and women’s adult hockey programs, school and group events as well as the youth hockey program.
First Descents Fliers – COLORADO / MONTANA http://firstdescents.org/ First Descents offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors (ages 18 to 39) a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.

Pink Phurree – TEXAS http://www.pinkphurree.org/ PINK PHURREE is a year round dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors from Houston Texas. The team was formed by the original team the Draggin’ Queens, which participated in the 2005 October Regatta of the Texas Dragon Boat Regatta. In 2004, Dr. Yang, a radiation oncologist, with Bayshore Medical was riding his bicycle and noticed some unusual activities taking place in the bay in Clear Lake. He decided to investigate and found it was the Texas Dragon Boat Regatta. Upon learning more of this unusual event, he discovered that there were breast cancer survivor teams in Canada. He thought, why not Texas, as he treats breast cancer survivors. He teamed up with Bayshore Medical Physical Therapy Department and Dr. Haq to start a team.

Center for Restorative Youth Justice / Tamarack Grief Resource Center, Team Life Savers - MONTANA Team Life Savers are a group of dedicated volunteers and staff from the Tamarack Grief Resource Center and the Center for Restorative Youth Justice. Both of these organizations provide incredible support to youth, families, and individuals throughout the Flathead Valley and are excited to participate in the First Annual Dragon Boat Festival and to dazzle the crowd with their team spirit and comradery. Specializing in bereavement camps, Tamarack Grief Resource Center strengthens and honors individuals and families throughout their journey with grief. The Center for Restorative Youth Justice (CRYJ) works one-on-one with youth and victims of juvenile crime to ‘reweave the fabric’ of relationships (community, family, peers) in ways that promote true accountability, inspire connection, and increase community safety. Abreast in the Rockies – CRANBROOK, B.C. We are a women’s team made up of Breast Cancer Survivors and Supporters from the East Kootenays ranging in age from 48-73. This is our 7th paddling season, practicing twice a week from June through September at Wasa and Moyie Lakes. We have participated in festivals in Victoria, Penticton, Vernon, Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Banff over the past 6 years and are really excited to paddle in our first American festival based in beautiful Big Sky Montana. Our mission statement is “To raise breast cancer awareness and to demonstrate that women living with breast cancer can lead full and active lives.”

Paddlers on this team come from a variety of businesses and organizations in the Kalispell community and all are happy to be paddling for the Lions Club. The mission of Kalispell Lions is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The primary service that Lions Clubs provide worldwide – and the service that most people associate Lions Clubs with – is assistance with eyeglasses. With 30 serving members, the Kalispell Lions Club provides people with glasses, hearing aids, diabetes awareness and education programs, patriotic “flags to first graders”, scholarships to high school graduates planning to attend FVCC and donations to food banks across the valley.

We welcome all spectators and fellow competitors to our beautiful lake and valley, and are stoked to paddle as a team in our first Dragon Boat race. Bozeman Ale Works Montana Vikings- MONTANA The Montana Vikings are a veteran bunch of paddlers, average age 62. We have paddled canoes together for several decades and are getting together at this Dragon Boat race as a reunion. Several on our team competed in Dragon Boat races back in the 80′s over in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zeland. Now 30 years latter and 50 pounds heavier we will see if we can still do it. We are looking forward to lots of fun.
Somers School District – MONTANA We are a group of movers, shakers, and all around fun-makers! This all star team consists of teachers, spouses, friends, and family. We are always looking for a good time, ways to support each other, and spreading enjoyment in the community. Looking forward to Dragon Boat Racing and the fun memory!!
ATB Blue Bayou Team Lethbridge – ALBERTA A mixed gender team composed of both new and experienced paddlers sourced from ATB Financial staff and family members. Our teams have paddled in the ATB Lethbridge Rotary Dragonboat Festival for the past 10 years, but our attendance at the Montana Dragonboat Festival will be our first paddling effort at a venue other than our own in Lethbridge. We really enjoy the Dragonboat Festival atmosphere and appreciate the opportunity to be involved in the first Festival effort put on by our good Montana neighbours. NautiGals Plus – ALBERTA The NautiGals are an all-women’s Dragon Boat team made up of young and not so young women with experiences spread across decades. Our ages range from 19 to 60′s. We have fun and support one another and really enjoy paddling together. The Plus came following the Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival when other women, who wanted to paddle on a women’s team in Kalispell, joined the NautiGals. We are looking forward to paddling in Kalispell’s first Dragon Boat Festival. We want to wish all other teams and paddlers good luck and hope they enjoy the festival. Paddles Up!!!
Kodiak Volley-Ballers – ALBERTA A mix of experienced and first time dragon-boaters. All of the males are members of the 2013 Kodiak Men’s Volleyball Team. Most of the females are alumni of the women’s program at the college. The Volley-Ballers have come to find out the meaning and importance to teamwork, while hoping to display the success of their off-season conditioning program.

Sister Power – ALBERTA Medicine Hat began its first Dragon Boat team in 2005, Sister Power Team was formed in 2006. We are a group of women brought together by a common bond. We are breast cancer survivors and supporters of survivors. We strive to celebrate life through the pursuit of fitness, friendship and fun by participating in dragon boating. We recently participated in our own local festival sponsored by the Pace Rotary Club held at Elkwater Lake. We are a recreational paddling club with members from a wide variety of professions and a wide variety of ages, all out having fun together.
